John Garrett, arguably the funniest man in accounting (in a good way 😊), joined us for this episode of Where Accountants Go, the Accounting Careers Podcast.
John was a guest about two years ago on the show, and he mentioned working on a book back then. That peaked our interest, so naturally when that book was published, we definitely had to invite him back on the show. And since that apparently somehow earned us an “advanced readers copy” – it was a good move!
John’s book, “What’s Your And?”, is an exceptionally well-written business book. I’m not sure he would agree with me positioning it as a business book, but in all honesty it is. It has some wonderful stories of professionals opening up about their outside-of-work hobbies, and how that has made the workplace that much better, but he also backs up his premise with insights from other professionals, and even a few statistics. It has a tremendous amount of value. And if that scares you by the way, he did write it in micro-chapters, which makes it much easier to read than you would anticipate. This was a job well done.
Plus of course, we will talk about John’s humble beginnings as an accountant. He has an interesting story, and is definitely a good person to address being your “true self” in the workplace.
